Disclosures
Important disclosures about the nature of the Service, what Basis is not, and the limitations of its outputs. Read before relying on anything the platform produces.
Effective: June 2026
These Disclosures apply to all use of the Basis research platform and website at basisresearch.tech, operated by Basis Research, Inc. ("Basis," "we," "our"). They should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Basis is a research tool, not investment advice
The Service reads financial filings, earnings-call transcripts, and other documents, extracts figures with citations, and drafts structured analysis. Nothing in the Service constitutes investment advice, a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, a solicitation to trade, or any form of financial planning advice.
Outputs produced by Basis are analytical drafts intended to reduce the time spent gathering publicly available information. They are not opinions on the merits of any investment. They do not take into account your investment objectives, risk tolerance, financial situation, or any other individual circumstance.
Any decision to buy, sell, or hold a security is yours alone. You should consult a licensed investment professional before making investment decisions.
Not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer
Basis Research, Inc. is not registered as an investment adviser under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 or under any state investment-adviser registration statute. Basis is not a broker-dealer registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission or a member of FINRA. Basis does not hold, transfer, or custody securities or funds on your behalf.
No fiduciary relationship is created between Basis and any user of the Service by virtue of these Terms, the provision of the Service, or any communication with Basis personnel. Basis owes no fiduciary duty to any user.
Outputs may contain errors and must be verified
Every figure extracted by Basis is linked to the source line it was read from. That citation makes verification straightforward. It does not make verification unnecessary.
Extracted figures may contain errors arising from ambiguous source documents, non-standard formatting, optical character recognition limitations in scanned filings, or model error. Basis surfaces ambiguity rather than resolving it silently, but it cannot detect every limitation in every document.
You must verify all extracted figures, comparisons, and analysis against the primary source documents before relying on them for any purpose, including investment research, client reporting, regulatory filings, or any other use. Reliance on unverified outputs is at your own risk.
Illustrative figures and sample companies are fictional
Figures, tables, company names, tickers, financial metrics, and analyst names used on the Basis marketing website and in product demonstrations are illustrative only. They do not represent real companies, real securities, real financial results, or real persons unless explicitly identified as such with a primary source citation.
Sample company names used on this site (such as "Northwind Freight Systems") are entirely fictional. Any resemblance to a real company is coincidental. No inference about the investment merits of any real company should be drawn from any figure or example on this site.
Testimonials and desk notes appearing on the site are illustrative of the general experience of research analysts using the product. They are not attributed to identifiable real individuals unless stated. They do not constitute endorsements of the investment performance of any security.
Forward-looking language and past performance
Source documents ingested by Basis may contain forward-looking statements, guidance, projections, and estimates made by the issuers of those documents. Any such language in Basis outputs originates from the issuer and is reproduced for research purposes. It is not endorsed or adopted by Basis.
Past financial performance of any company reflected in documents you provide to Basis does not guarantee or predict future results. Basis does not provide forecasts or price targets.
No recommendation to buy or sell any security
Nothing on the Basis website, in the Basis platform, in any email or communication from Basis, or in any output the Service generates constitutes a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, derivative, commodity, currency, or other financial instrument. If any output could be read as implying a trading action, that reading is incorrect.
Basis is a tool for research analysts. The analyst forms the view. The analyst makes the recommendation. The analyst takes the position. Basis does the reading and the gathering.
Methodology and quality reporting
We publish our approach to extraction quality, how we measure it, and how we report it on the Methodology page. Because every extracted figure is sourced, accuracy is auditable by the user on every output. We report known limitations transparently rather than publishing a single aggregate accuracy figure that would obscure variation across document types.
